Now ever since I was little (yes, I can remember that far back; just) I have loved shadow puppets (!). My parents even bought me a shadow theatre complete with odd looking characters and I played with it constantly...well until it sort of disintegrated.  And I think that is where my love for silhouettes comes from.  So how could I possibly resist these GORGEOUS new Polkadoodles stamps that were premiered on Hochanda recently?

The beauty of a silhouette stamp is that it cries out for an interesting background.  So step up please all those mop-up, stencil cleaning & general experimenting bits of paper that have accumulated in my ‘oooh-must-do-something-with-that’ drawer.

I used quite a textured watercolour paper so stamping the silhouettes was never going to be easy.  Thank goodness for a stamping platform, how did I manage without one?

I created a background with Distress Oxides and threw around some gold glitter embossing powder and metallic pearls for good measure.

Colour Crazy Challenge – Anything Goes With Dr Digi!

Hello! How are you?!  My third post this week! Don’t know about you but I need a lie down!

Dr Digi really has so many amazing characters in the store and the team were very lucky to be able to choose their image and I went for BIRTHDAY BOT to make a birthday card for one of my brothers.

Now the scene I have created is based VERY loosely on a Star Wars theme.  The rather odd grey object in the background is supposed to be The Death Star under construction (!) and I have coloured the fabulous BOT to look a fraction like C3PO…….with a cupcake.

The image I have used this week is a sweet little boy called CANDY FLOSS CREW QUENTIN but I have managed to ‘unsweetened’ him somewhat by making him into a zombie/Day of the Dead character. Well I rarely get the opportunity to make anything for Halloween and I absolutely love it so jumped at the chance to ‘re-imagine’ this little lad as standing in a graveyard looking a little peaky! The skull on his sweater was the inspiration to be honest.

So lots and lots of dies and a spooky sky created with Distress Oxides later we hopefully have a suitable location for a zombie to play on his skateboard.  There’s even a pair of sinister googly eyes to cheer him on!
