The team are thinking Christmas again today but not cards, and as time was against me this week, I decided to simply decorate a little kraft carton that I have had forever.

This glorious snowflake die was featured on Nikky’s Hochanda shows at the beginning of the month and as a die fanatic (no, you say....really?) I just HAD to use it. It is so amazing and delicate and looks fab in glitter and mirri card!

LDRS Creative – Let’s Shellebrate!

Hello everyone!

I am posting on the LDRS CREATIVE INSPIRATION BLOG today using the super cute stamp set SHORE LUCKY.

Ooh I love this set; the adorable dolphin is just too cute not to use! So I decided that he would look fun as part of a kinetic/slider card with him leaping out of the sea and then back in again….but as usual my expectations exceeded my expertise and I had to change my mind. Hummmph!

So not to be completely defeated I used my stamp platform to stamp an arc of dolphins instead using my RAVEN HYBRID INKPAD. Once I was happy with the way I had arranged them I also stamped the water drops, bubbles and whale tail to create a little ‘leaping for joy’ scene if you will.   I then coloured everything with watercolour pens.

I cut my ‘joyful dolphins’ out using, appropriately, the HAPPY DAYS CIRCLE die set and matted it with black and a sheet from the gorgeous YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE 6X6 PAPER PAD.

The Shellebrate sentiment is also in the SHORE LUCKY set and I made it into a banner by stamping the waves above and below it, adding two of the little shells as a border to finish. Never underestimate the usability of tiny stamps, they can add patterns, fill in gaps and cover mistakes. I love them for ALL that....but particularly the last one!!!

We Love 2 Create – A Winter Walk!

Hello, how’s it going?

Now you may or may not have noticed that I have been dipping my toe into the wonderful world of Mixed Media lately.  Well now I have a chance to paddle right out there (eeeeek!) as I have joined the amazing WE LOVE 2 CREATE team.

We have a challenge every month that is ‘Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes’ and we are sponsored by the amazing POLKADOODLES!! Our winner will receive a fabulous prize so check out the blog for details.

So my effort this month is a canvas board, covered in various mica sprays, texture paste and gilding wax.  I added a tag with a ‘walk in a winter wood’ theme achieved by inking through the fab TREES stencil and adding a snowy ground with texture paste.

I wanted to use the fabulous girl image from the stamp set SPECIAL TIMES but she looked a little too ‘summery’ for what I had in mind. So, with my need to always find alternative uses for my dies, I applied the same principle to my stamps.  I used elements from the GREAT DAYS set to give her a winter coat, earmuffs, hat and scarf! I even doodled her some stripy tights so her legs wouldn’t get cold!!

Colour Crazy Challenge – Anything Goes With Blog Candy!

This time I made a bookmark using dies found in the Tonic ‘Shadow Box’ set and decorated it with watercolour ink, texture paste and stamps.
