Digi Choosday Challenge –New Job!

Good morning everybody! Another scorcher in the UK today! Not my fave kind of weather!

It’s Choosday which means it’s time for a new ‘Anything Goes’ challenge over at POLKADOODLES DIGI CHOOSDAY and as always we have a wonderful prize on offer for our lucky winner so check out the BLOG for details.

Don’t forget it is also DISCOUNT DAY so you need to grab the code on THE BLOG to get a MASSIVE reduction in the POLKADOODLES SHOP! It’s for a limited time only so be quick!

Our challenge this week was to make a 'New Job' gift for the recipients desk and I have made a journal/notebook for a friend that is starting a new venture. You'll need to take a breath though there's a tutorial.

I used a die to cut my notebook/journal from greyboard and painted it with sparkle paint. I then printed off papers from the OCTAVIA MOONFLY collection and after cutting to size I stamped over them with the VINTAGE TEXT  & VINTAGE EPHEMERA stamp sets.

In Word I used the alphabet from the OCTAVIA collection to add the word ‘notes’ to one of the banners. I also re-sized and printed some of the butterflies, adding a black shadow behind everything.  I also printed the image TEACHER/STUDENT/OFFICE, adding a sentiment above and below her.

I took my stamped patterned paper and added it to my journal (please excuse the bumpy appearance the glue wasn’t dry) I also distressed the edges with Black Soot Distress Oxide.

I cut the fabulous GLORIOUS BORDER from black card and added it to the top and bottom edge of my book front, trimming off the excess which I stuck to the inside flap (waste not want not). I also added my ‘notes’ banner too.

I made 4 signatures for the inside of my book by simply cutting and scoring some spare paper.

Using the BASIC OVALS I matted and layered onto the signature covers with some more of the OCTAVIA paper, adding the DELICATE DAISY die, some pre-coloured flowers and pearl and glitter drops.  I will add these to the book with some twine.

I coloured my image with Copics and stuck her to the inside flap of the book, adding a couple of the smaller butterflies to hide the gap in the borders.

And there you have it, my first handmade journal/notebook (well thanks to a steel-rule die)!

  8. What a fab notebook Jane! Of course, it's far too pretty to actually write in (this is a serious problem I have. It also means I have a huge pile of empty notebooks, lol!) Thank you for joining us at Sweet Stampin' this week. Sammy-x
