I am sharing this journal project today and it comes with a tutorial so be prepared for a picture heavy post!
I do
love to tell stories and create scenes and that is what I have done
here...Aladdin but minus… well… Aladdin!
I began with my background, covering my journal page with a watercolour wash and paint splats and ripped a piece of Kraft paper to be my 'sand' along the bottom edge.
I then inked all my edges with Distress Oxides.
I used the fabulous Stamp Soup set NOT SO SIMPLE to make what I felt were essential elements to the story, an eastern palace (I used the acorn from the BEARY GREAT DAY stamp set for the centre dome), a magic lamp and a flying carpet.
I printed out the two digi stamps WINNIE FAIRYTALE FARAWAY and COOL DUDE, cutting the dudes legs off in a totally pain-free operation!
I used dies from the WINNIE DIE SETS to turn my COOL DUDE into a genie.
I coloured both my characters with Copics and then to the COOL DUDE I added a ponytail, moustache and beard…
… then added a vapour trail and voila! We have a genie!
I coloured my STAMP SOUP elements with watercolours.
After I had stuck down the ‘sand’ and palace I decided I wanted more detail in the sky so added texture paste through the ACCENTS STENCIL.
I fixed everything to the page then added black outlines to give a sense of dimension.
And there you are “a whole new world”.

Pain free? How can you be sure?? A bit lower and you could have snipped a very sensitive area, although I suspect he may be a bit like Action Man in that department!! The nod to Pilot made me smile...aaaah those were the days, glam rock and all that. An absolutely "Magic" make Jane xx
